Our Story

Hi friends! Vanessa here, Instructional Designer since 2009, working in the full-time & freelancing worlds since 2011, and finally on my own to do the damn thing since 2018 as the CEO of Anchored Training.

Since I moved into doing work on my own I cannot tell you the number of times I felt alone. The number of times I felt that I would be left to my own devices to muddle through and figure out. There were challenges I felt totally alone on and hurdles I faced where I thought to myself, “I must be the worst at this because I have no clue what I am doing.” And then through finally allowing myself to have my guard down and connect with other instructional designers I grew to trust, I realized it is not just me and we need a place to have a community. And no, LinkedIn is not the place I go for all those questions. Sure, I could ask a Facebook group or crowd source on LinkedIn, but the questions I didn’t want potential employers or clients seeing, or the questions that I needed to just go to a trusted source didn’t fit for me on that platform.

Here is the other thing. I also knew that in order to stay on the top of my game I needed to find ways to further my education… and I don’t mean just on the how-to’s of instructional design but also on business, and the soft side of things. And to find that place has been hard.

That is why the Anchored ID Collective exists.

 

About The Collective

Anchored ID Collective is meant for freelance and corporate instructional designers to find their people. To be part of a community that is not here to laugh at you because you accidentally said learning styles but you meant learning preference. It is here to support you and champion you because we rise up together.
